Greetings, St. George’s,
Fall has arrived. The weather remains pleasant, but the leaves are beginning to change. My tomatoes are still ripening, the flowers are still blooming, and a few strawberries are trying to produce fruit—if I can keep the yard squirrels away.
A few updates and opportunities to share today:
Apples: If you are interested in fall baking, Dorian has plenty of apples available for picking. Email the church for his contact information.
A new fence has been built along the east side of the backyard, extending from the back lane to just beyond the gas meter. It will protect our new AC unit and prevent vehicles from cutting through the lot from the lane to the street. Thank you to the Men’s Breakfast Club for moving the lumber into the church for safekeeping overnight and then to the backyard, where our builder, Mike—Deb’s son-in-law—constructed the fence.
A reminder that our Vestry meeting resumes tomorrow, Tuesday, following the summer break.
Next Sunday, Peggy and Randy Rentz will host a celebration lunch for the parish in honour of their 50th wedding anniversary. Congratulations, Peggy and Randy!
Weekly Bible study, led by Rev. Deacon Beverley, has resumed.
L’Arche Tova Café is seeking volunteers. If you are interested, details are posted on the bulletin board.
Plessis Resource Centre: A group of six or seven women has faithfully helped prepare meals in the centre’s kitchen. Because several members are currently facing health challenges, we have decided to pause this work. We will continue collecting groceries for the food bank and seek other ways to help as we are able.
We will host a Lay Readers workshop this fall. Dates and content are still being finalized, so please stay tuned. We will contact the candidates directly.
