| ODE TO DAVID
There once was
a priest named David
But his wife just called him Maynard
We were really confused
Although somewhat amused
Cause his real name is David Maynard
He arrived at St. Georges one day
Brought along Ralph and Roxy to play
His Wifes name is Jo Jo
She called him on his No Nos
Transcona is where he would stay
Ralph and Roxy became a great pair
They would teach all the children to share
Ralph liked to grumble
Roxy kept David humble
They allowed St. Georges to care.
We learned that David liked to have fun
While preaching about God and His Son
He would try to take shots
Most people laughed lots
And no one ever got up to run.
Now we all loved Davids wife Jo
Hed remind us, "Shes a lawyer, you know"
She would sit at the back
Cause she would keep track
Of each reading, prayer and low blow!
The roof of his car can go down
To reveal his bright, shiny crown
There isnt a care
About tousling his hair
Cause there isnt a hair to be found.
He spends a lot of time on the road
Falling asleep or so weve been told
Good thing hes a priest
Cause God has at least
Let Jesus take the wheel and grab hold.
He really wanted to sing
Alleluia and praising the King
Its a sad thing to quote
But he cant sing a note
So God made preaching Davids thing.
The past year has gone by way too fast
We thought that his time here would last
But he wanted his retirement day
To be right close to his 60th birthday
So now our future with him is our past
We pray that youll be safe and sound
In Brandon, Jo will always be around
Love, luck and laughter
For many years after
Our door is always open, please drop on down. |
