Activities & GroupsDonation Information St.
George's is an active and growing church. Some activities we do within our community
include helping at the Transcona Area Food Bank and by providing pastoral care and monthly
church services at Park Manor Personal Care Facility. Each spring, volunteers
from St. George's open, operate and maintain a Garden Centre
at Regent Park Shopping Centre, in 2006 moved to the corner
of Brewster Avenue and Regent Avenue. It runs for about six weeks. This creative group of
women meet in the afternoons on the third Wednesday of the month. Annually they hold a
baby shower for the Thelma Wynne Society and provide
layettes for babies of needy mothers. This group also provides many wonderful knitted
items for our Annual Christmas Tea and Bazaar. New members always welcome
please
join us! Adult Christian Education Class This fun, interactive
group meets on a regular basis - currently on Thursdays from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. The study
materials are decided upon by those attending and vary each session. The Sunday School is
open to all children over the age of three and takes place at the same time as the Sunday
service at 10:30 a.m. Stories, discussions, crafts and singing all make up parts of this
program. Healing Healing is performed every Sunday during communion. Youth Group For more information about Youth Activities please call the office. Confirmation classes are arranged as needed. The Bellringer St. George's newsletter is produced quarterly. Articles, news and letters are welcome! Choir The "Holy Cow" is a group of dedicated and talented members of our church who sing contemporary songs as well as traditional hymns from the Blue Book. Our services are a combination of the traditional organ-style and contemporary with guitar accompaniment. Practices are Thursday evenings at 7:15 pm and we perform the last Friday evening of each month at Park Manor PCH. Social Committee This group plans a variety of events, such as Bridge & Whist luncheons, men's fellowship breakfasts and family events, including dinners and organizing groups to attend sporting events. |
